Weddings, events & functions
Pioneer Country is a 5th generation cattle property on 200 acres of picturesque farmland. The Sullivan family have also been in hospitality since 1978 when we opened the Smokehouse barn style restaurant and we have been a dedicated function center since the 1990s. The Sullivan family sure know how to host a great party.
Location, location, Location…
We are conveniently located only 7 minutes drive from The Gold Coast Airport. We are 2.3 km from the M1 Kirkwood Road exit at Tweed Heads South.
Our venue includes rolling lawns, windswept hilltops with views to Surfers Paradise & Stradbroke Is., photogenic black Angus cows, a reflection lake, windmill, Australian memorabilia, horse yards, old hut, corrigated iron tanks
Your guests will thank you because the chapel and reception centre are at the same address (Uncle Max can’t blame Aunty Bernadette for getting lost between venues and missing out on the appetisers). Your guests will also be pleased to be able to watch your wedding photography from the verandah all the while sipping on a cold one. Guests will also be delighted that their Uber ride was affordable because we are only 4 km from Tweed Heads or if they did bring their own “Dezzo” (designated driver) that we have ample off street parking for them to only safely abandon the car later anyway!
The Island Style Chapel
Our island style chapel with a steep pitched roof and open lattice walls can comfortably seat 120 people on antique church pews. The lattice side walls open outwards to provide viewing for up to 300 peeps.
Barn Style Restaurant
The dining hall was purpose built as a restaurant and with full restaurant amenities and creature comforts such as plumbing (think about it). Although purpose built as a restaurant, the structure does looks like a 100 year old barn. In fact, the solid wood beams are over 100 years old and were up-cycled from a defunct, local milk factory.
We often joke that we are so “old school’ and that the world has gone full circle that that we are once again “on trend”, “retro” and “hard core hipster”. Either way, you will love our punkka fans (old style cooling system), wood burning fireplaces and snippets of authentic Australian heritage (every piece has a story to tell).
Pioneer Country has SPACE. Space to park, space for lawn parties and games, space to dance, space with views and space for you to personalise your wedding day.
We only host one event at any one time, so all this SPACE is exclusively yours. Therefore there is NO need to share your special day with other random party makers, cafe goers, poker machine players or walk ins.
So much to think about.
So little time.
That’s where I come in.
I am Sarah Robinson (nee Sullivan) and I am a 4th generation Sullivan. I will be your in-house event manager. I grew up in hospitality and I have event managed large scale events all over the world before recently returning home to help my parents run the family business.
I love working with bride’s, the occasional groom (most blokes don’t get into the detail !) and their families. I love that every wedding is different and being able to help each couple put their individual stamp on the day. You will be in safe hands as I guide you through this exhilarating, exciting and sometimes overwhelming important event.
If you would like a personal tour of our extremely private and dedicated wedding venue you will need to make an appointment. Please click below to propose a suitable inspection tour date and time (I work flexible hours including weekdays, weekends and after hours – so propose a time that is convenient to you).
I look forward to meeting and understanding how you want to make your wedding day special.
I work with you to bring your
Big Day Vision to life, stress free.
Planning & Budgeting
To confirm your booking Pioneer Country requires a $550 booking fee (or for chapel only a $990 booking fee) and then you can safely book other critical service providers such as celebrants and photographers.
Two weeks before your booking date we require final numbers and payment.
The 24-hour venue hire fee provides time for site visits with your selected service providers such as videographers, chapel rehearsal with the celebrant (typically the day before), time to add your personal touches and styling to the chapel and dining tables and erect any signage or construct any outdoor games or photo points.
It might not seem like much but the time spent with family and hen’s to style the chapel and dining tables and to lay out the names cards is enjoyable and a special time between family and good friends. Typically this styling is done from 2 pm the day before the wedding. Make the most of it.
Event & Guest Coordination
Pioneer Country will provide you a written run sheet for your function that you can share with all your service providers to ensure we all “sing from the same hymn sheet”.
Pioneer Country will also seek out your Master Of Ceremonies (MC) and liaise with this person on the day to ensure all aspects are coordinated and run smoothly on the day and without troubling the bride and groom. If your MC is new to the game we can coach them through what is required.
