Frequently Asked
Questions

What is the minimum number of guests?

During peak period ie Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays the minimum number of guests is 50 adult equivalents. For Mondays through to Thursdays the minimum is a much more intimate 20 adult equivalents (think private chef & butler type service levels).

0-4 years old are free
5-12 years old @ 50% of the adult price
13 years and older @ full adult price

Adult equivalent example
50 adults plus 2 x 13 y.o. children
equates to 50 adults + (2 x 0.5) = 51 adult equivalents

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Pioneer Country is fully licensed and to retain our liquor license we must control all sales and supply of liquor on site. Therefore alcohol is not to be brought onto the premises by either the client, guests or 3rd party service providers.

Fortunately this means it is Pioneer Country’s responsibility to ensure all bar staff are responsible service of alcohol trained. It also means you do NOT have to apply to the NSW Dep. of Liquor & Gaming for a temporary liquor license because we already have an on-premises liquor license.

Our liquor license goes until 12 mid night.

Can we bring our own caterer or food trucks?

Unfortunately this option is no longer available however our in-house chef will NOT disappoint. If you want a food truck vibe please consider our night market hand cart menu options.

The Pioneer Country venue hire includes styling and event management, what other service providers (expenses) will I require?

Pioneer Country recommends you organise at least the following services and that they be booked in the following order:
1. celebrant
2. photographer/videographer
3. cake
4. flowers
(bridal party flowers, table arrangements optional, chapel arrangements optional)
5. music (either DJ or live musicians)

Sarah has a long list of recommended suppliers that can streamline organising your wedding.

Is it cheaper to book mid-week?

Typically you can save $1,500 on your venue hire if you choose to hold your wedding on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Due to increased labour costs Sundays and public holidays incur a 15 % surcharge for food and beverages (not applicable to venue hire).

Does Pioneer Country offer accommodation?

We don’t need to because we are so close to town (10 mins). We recommend:

For the bride and her tribe we recommend the gracious Belle River House at Tumbulgum. She sleeps 16-18 adults and is a scenic 13 km drive from Pioneer Country. Rydges Airport Hotel & The Pink Hotel Coolangatta also offer special discounts for Pioneer Country wedding guests.

Alternatively, The Colonial & River Retreat caravan parks are walking distance (700 meters) and offer affordable riverfront cabins.

We are only a 10 minute taxi ride from Coolangatta-Tweed Heads.

Guests are also welcome to leave their cars in our off street carpark and collect them at their leisure the following day.
